Autism Resource List

Sunday, June 7, 2009

I wanted to have a list of resources for parents on my site. I will get it started and you can add to it by leaving a comment with the name, website and description. You can provide a resource for support, education, learning products, therapy, and anything else that is Autism related. I will add it to the list and then delete your post (no offense, just to let myself know that if there is a comment, I need to add an item to the list). Thank you.

You have a great list going here. Thanks for sharing it! I don't have a blogger account so couldn't figure out how to add a resource link. Thought I would send it in a comment.

Hi Tammy: I saw Dori's note on her twitter page actually :-) So...I hopped over here to leave a note. I have a website called Personal Child Stories and I can create custom "social stories" for children with special needs (using personal photos and custom written text for each unique situation). I'd love to list on your site. And please let me know if I can return the favor. Thanks so much!

Thanks Shara. I have added your site to the list. If you would like to grab my button and place it on your site, that would be great. You don't have to, but since you offered....

You tell me - would you like the button on my Special Needs page or my Business Networking page? Let me know and I'll have the web designer (also my hubby) add it! ;-)

Hi Tammy,
I would add our company: http://www.advancedbrain.com. and the product most helpful for some kids on the spectrum is The Listening Program. it can be very useful for many kids with auditory sensitivities. We have a list of providers available there as well if a parent wants to look into a local resource. For more information they can also contact me at gingerk@advancedbrain.com

Best,

Ginger

If you would like to link my savant autistic artist website, I would appreciate it. I have been refused my bar admission for a long time because of fears about my autism, so I earn my living to be independent from my autism savant artwork. My website is:

Thanks much !

Great list of info! Please consider adding:

Talk Institute and School
http://www.talkinc.org/

The TALK Institute and School, formerly the Magnolia School, is the nation's most progressive center for the education of children with autism and language disorders outside Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. As teachers, therapists and researchers we are at the forefront of a new, more accurate and person-centered understanding of autism -- one that presents autism as a sensory-based movement disorder profoundly affecting language, social interaction and praxis.

Tammy,

This is a really great list. The STAR Center in Denver Colorado would be a great addition to your site. The specialize in occupational therapy for children with autism, sensory processing disorder, etc...

Lincoln said...

Also on the STAR Center- they work closely with a related Foundation called the Sensory Processing Disorder Foundation. They are both really great organizations working towards therapeutic treatments for kids with sensory and behavioral disorders, including most autism spectrum disorders. I clicked the email button, feel free to email me with follow ups or for more info on these great guys. Also, have you seen the film Autistic Like: Graham's Story?

Thank you for letting me know about these two. I have added them to the list. I haven't seen that movie. I'll check into it.
