As a mom of an autistic child, I am very concerned about what our family eats. I am a dedicated label reader. Before I buy something new, I check the ingredients. One ingredient that I always make sure is not in the list is high fructose corn syrup. I’ve seen the commercials that say a little bit in moderation is alright. The problem with that is that you can find this harmful ingredient in a lot of products. I have found it in cereals that I was sure were healthy. A little bit here and a little bit there adds up.
One of our favorite condiments, syrup, is an item that is notorious for having high fructose corn syrup in it. The ones that do not, are usually really expensive. That was when I discovered that Log Cabin Syrup had taken it out of their syrup. I was very impressed. I bought a bottle for my family. The taste is great. It still tastes like syrup. Why, oh why, do manufacturers use this ingredient? Log Cabin Syrup has gotten it right by taking out the unhealthy and harmful ingredient and keeping the taste my family loves.
