Developing communication skills with young autistic children presents itself with many challenges and hurdles. Young autistic children understand and cooperate best when multiple senses are stimulated. Children with behavior and communication difficulties are often visual learners. Making learning and communication fun is the ideal and most beneficiary way to develop these skills.
Thinking of fun games that involve communication, memory, explaining, coordination etc. will create a less stressful and threatening environment which in turn will promote learning.
The Christmas Advent Calendar is a great place to start. The calendar is online and it’s free. Each day there is a new game/activity that is great for young children.
