Texas mother Saiqa Akhter was charged with capital murder for the death of her 5 year old son Zain Akhter, which occurred Monday evening. She is also expected to be charged another count of capital murder for the death of her 2 year old daughter. She died in the hospital Tuesday.
The Irving police released the 911 tapes Wednesday. Here are some quotes from them:
Operator: “Irving 911.”
Akhter: “Hello?”
Operator: “Hello?”
Akhter: “I killed my both kids.”
Operator: “Why did you do this?”
Akhter: “Both are autistic. I don’t want my kids to be like that.”
Operator: “They’re both autistic?”
Akhter: “I want normal kids.”
“First, I tried to give them bathroom cleaner. I put it in their mouth, but they don’t drink it. I wanted them to drink it, they don’t drink it. So, there is a wire in here, so, I just grabbed their necks…(inaudible)…then, they were no more.” Akhter
Operator: “What are you doing now?”
Akhter: “I wash my hands.”
Operator: “You’re washing your hands?”
Akhter: “Yeah.”
Operator: “Why are you washing your hands?”
Akhter: “They smell too much because of bathroom cleaner.”
This is horrible. For a mother to do this is shocking. It literally makes me sick to my stomach thinking about it. I know how stressful raising an autistic child it, but what she did was monstrous. Afterwards, her main concern was to get the bathroom cleaner off of her hands.
My prayers are for the two little souls that are now in heaven. I hope this woman spends the rest of her life in prison. If possible, I hope she gets the death penalty. The authorities have not decided if they will go for the death penalty for her. They need to. What she did was horrible. When her first attempt to kill them failed, she strangled them. Nothing can excuse the actions she took.
Oh sweet Lord. I heard about this murder but had not heard that the reasons behind it were because her children were autistic.
