I really enjoyed the BlogHer conference environment. The breakout sessions weren’t my cup of tea, but I enjoyed meeting new bloggers and PR reps. I also enjoyed being in NY. I also learned a lot about the type of blogger I am, and the type of blogger I would like to be.
One thing I noticed, only one person asked me what my long term goals were for my blog. That was Melissa, with Kolcraft. She was interested in me as a blogger, and what I wanted to accomplish. It is my hope that I will be able to help improve the lives of families raising an autistic child. I would like to be more politically active, help families obtain services and therapy tools for their child, and help schools with providing better learning aids and supplies in the classroom. Most of all, I would like to promote Autism Awareness among everyone we come in contact with.
One person can make a difference. Many can bring about change. I would like to put together a blogger conference for just autism and special needs bloggers. I would like this to be a small conference that brings bloggers, companies, and autism specialists all together. I would like us to be able to ask questions, not just be lectured at. I would like big companies to help sponsor the conference, and for them to learn how they can help us help others.
What do you think? Is this something you would be interested in?
