Do We Need Another Blogger Conference?

Do We Need Another Blogger Conference?

I have been working on lining up companies that might be interested in participating in a Special Needs Blogger Conference. I have had several reply that they might be interested, and to please keep them updated with information. Now I’m thinking, do we really need another blogger conference?

If a blogger wants to learn how to be a better blogger, there are already plenty of those available to attend. If you want to connect with companies, you don’t need a Special Needs conference to do that. For me, I would like to be able to make connections with leaders in research, awareness, political/policy arena, and financial assistance. I would also like to be among the first to be notified of breaking news in the special needs community.

I would also like to be able to set up relationships with companies that allow them to have a direct impact on the special needs community. I would like to be able to sit down and talk with companies about what they can do to help families of special needs individuals. Maybe they already are active in our community, and there is a way we can help?

Most of all, I want to put together an event that is small, and that isn’t going to cost much. Maybe a Virtual Event, where we get together in groups in different cities, on the same date and time? Company representatives can be present in different cities. Special experts can be asked to attend, or do a live video presentation and question/answer session. We can take turns with live feeds from the different locations.

That’s just one idea. Do you have an idea? Would anyone like to help me put together a solid proposal I can send off to the companies that are interested? I might even be able to get a company to be the main sponsor and set up a website for the event. The cost of doing an event like this would be low and we would be able to get a lot out of it.

  • I like the idea about helping the companies be more involved in the special needs community – GREAT PR for them!! And also just learning more in general for all, and keeping tabs on things.

I do like the idea of a virtual event. But you just don’t get the same personal touch as being face to face. Although would be easier for more people to attend.

I can’t think right now, Landon is crying and climbing up me. Good luck though!!!
