Back-to-School Traditions

My daughter is a sophomore this year.  How did that happen?

I remember her first day of Kindergarten like it was yesterday.  She was so small and eager to begin school.  I remember her meeting her teacher and classmates for the first time and the look of delight on her face.

That’s not really the case anymore!  She thinks school is OK, but she’s not quite as eager for that first day as she was 10 years ago!

Traditionally we always took a photo in front of our door “backpack ready” on the first day of school.

When I look back on those pictures of the ‘first days’ of school it brings a smile to my face.  Because the days of even high school ending are getting closer for us – and then it’s off to college for her, and an empty nest for us.  I wonder if she’ll let us snap that “backpack photo” then too… :)

And since she’s not drawing circles in the playground sand anymore, I’m thinking a new tradition of a custom notebook each year from the Back-to-School selection at Tiny Prints might be in order.  Then she can doodle write her notes in something meaningful each year!

Do you have a Back-to-School tradition in your home?  Share it if you do!

I was provided with a thank you of a gift card to Tiny Prints for sharing my Back-to-School traditions with you and the information in the post.
