Heads Up! – Review

Are you constantly telling your child to “get back to work”? Are they easily distracted when doing schoolwork or reading?

Heads Up! has a whole store of resources that are designed to make a difference in the lives of struggling learners.

The product pictured above is called Top Of The Line. It is a reading aid that has a blue or yellow highlighted strip along the top to help readers “keep their place” along a line of text, graphs or charts. If you need a little broader of a visual area, the Double Time, allows the viewing of 2 lines of text within the highlighted area. At $2.00 a piece these are a steal. They are very well constructed (I’m using one as a bookmark right now), and should last a long time.

Heads Up! created their own product. Frames. They are made from transparent colored polycarbonite, with a frame printed on. The frames are available in 4″ x 4 1/2″ squares or 4″ x 9″ rectangles. You can direct attention and focus by placing the frames over workbook pages or whatever you want that you need to help your student maintain attention. These well constructed aids are only $10.00 for six!

Another visual aid they sell is their Reader. This has a highlighted strip of color between two strips of grey. The Reader is thin and flexible, and is great for underling if needed as well.  Once again this product is $10.00 for six.

Heads Up! is a company that is helping all kinds of special kids with products that combine practical help. If you have a child that has a unique learning style, or struggles with conventional methods you really need to check out their store. They have all sorts of products. Games, timers, organizational helps, handwriting, and more.

A favorite quote of Scott & Melissa Boring who own Heads Up! sums up what their purpose is all about.

Success is not to be measured by the position someone has reached in life, but the obstacles he has overcome while trying to succeed – Booker T. Washington
