Based on the critically-acclaimed book written by Frank Nappi, A Mile in His Shoes is the uplifting story of Mickey Tussler, a farm boy from Bargersville, Indiana with Asperger’s Syndrome and a killer fastball, who is recruited by minor league manager Arthur Murphy, to play for the Clayton River Rats, a struggling minor league baseball team. Caught between life at home with his overprotective father (played by country music singer George Canyon)and life on the field, Mickey turns to his gift, the support of his teammates and “Murph”, who gives him the opportunity of a lifetime.
Luke Schroder (Ricky Schroder’s son) plays Mickey, his first leading role, and he does a fantastic job with the character.
This is definitely a feel good movie, which will resonate not only with autistic families but also with baseball fans and those that just like wholesome family entertainment.
A Mile in His Shoes was originally shown on GMC TV in September of 2011 and it will be released on DVD on January 10, 2012.
