This Jordan Knight post actually starts over on my Carolina Mom Blogger blog. I talk about the Old Navy Funnovation Nation party with singer Jordan Knight. I have different pictures and videos posted over there. I also have part of my interview with Jordan Knight posted on my other blog. For this post, I wanted to get a little more personal about my family’s experience at the Old Navy Funnovation Nation party.

My son wandered around, a lot. He was happy to be exploring the event area before it started. There were only volunteers and workers there. When the party started, he had a harder time. It was loud and crowded. A combination that doesn’t work well with him. He was a real trooper, though. Whenever he started to wander away in the crowd, I would call to him, and he would come back. For the most part, though, my husband kept up with him. He enjoyed the Jordan Knight rehearsal that we were treated to before the party started.
When I was interviewing Jordan Knight, I had to ask him if he was familiar with autism. Surprisingly, he wasn’t. I wish I had more time with him, in order to educate him about autism. I didn’t. I asked him what he talks about with his children about special needs individuals. If he teaches them about how to interact with them.
“I think the main thing that I tell my children is that nobody is different from anyone else….We all have the same feelings.” was Jordan Knight’s thoughts. He also pointed out that it “could happen to you or someone close to you.” No matter what the disability is, be it autism or someone in a wheelchair, it could easily be you or your child.
I wish there had been time to introduce Jordan Knight to my son. Unfortunately, there wasn’t. I think it would have been a great way to educate him about autism. After the interview, I had my picture taken with Jordan. I looked like a wilted flower. It was so hot outside. When I joined up with my family again, I could tell that they were ready to leave. I took pity on them all, and said “Let’s go.” This was met with gratitude and relief. Since we were in Wilmington, a short trip to the aquarium was necessary. After that, food. By five o’clock, we were on the road for home. Of course, we drove straight into a bad thunderstorm. When we arrived home, I was tired and ready for bed. All things considered, it turned out to be a really nice day.

It looks like an amazing time and I am so glad that your son had fun. Going to have to check out your full interview with Jordan.
