Summer is officially upon us. The school year ended with my daughter’s graduation from elementary school. She was really happy about that, and I was very proud of her. I’m not a big fan of sitting in the bleachers, but I really enjoyed the ceremony. The ceremony lasted an hour, and we had time afterwards to take additional pictures of our children.
My son missed his last week of school, because he was healing from his surgery. That meant he also missed the end of the year testing. This didn’t go over well, and I am still dealing with the school about this. We gave them a doctor’s note stating that he was under doctor’s orders to not go to school, because he was healing from surgery. The school was fine with this, but the district office people weren’t. Now we are working on getting a more specified note from his doctor, stating why he had surgery and why he had to be out.
With school out, we’ve spent the past week enjoying some favorite summer fun activities, and some new family favorite frozen treats. My daughter finished her second week of swimming lessons, the first week started while she was still in school. She loves the pool, and is looking forward to her next session of swimming lessons. This summer, because of all the plans we have for her, she is only able to do two sessions. In the past, we’ve signed her up for at least 4, but she doesn’t have room in her schedule for that this summer.
I was asked to try out Fruttare’s Frozen Bars, and happily agreed. My daughter is always asking for ice cream. At least once a day. I am not a big fan of ice cream during the summer. Both my kids have a hard time staying hydrated during the summer months. Because of this, I prefer not to give them frozen treats that are milk based.
I was sent two coupons to purchase a couple different flavors of Fruttare’s Frozen Bars. I picked Strawberry and Mango. We enjoyed both, and I was happy to allow my kids a no fat, low-calorie frozen treat. One that didn’t contain milk. Fruttare does have frozen bars that do contain milk. They look yummy, and I will try them out with my family during the winter months. For the hot summer days, when popsicles are an absolute must in my freezer, it’s nice to have an alternative that the whole family loves. They are like eating frozen fruit on a stick.
Next week, I will labeling a list full of items for my daughter. She is going on a week-long overnight camping trip, and I have to label everything. After that, she goes straight to my parents for a week at Devil’s Fork State Park. I’ll miss her birthday, but am sure my parents will make it extra special for her. This is going to be a very busy, and fun summer for my daughter.
