Balance Bar Summer Shape-Up Challenge and Walmart

Balance Bar Summer Shape-Up Challenge and Walmart

I agreed to take part in Balance Bar Walmart Blogger Program this summer.  It’s a summer shape-up challenge that is being hosted across several different social medias.  To kick off my participation, I was sent a $75 Walmart Gift Card to purchase the new Cookie Dough and Peanut Butter Balance Bars, and other healthy food items of my choice.

The Summer Shape-Up Program, which you get get to from the Balance Bar Facebook page, includes workout videos hosted by Holly Del Rosso.  On Pinterest, you can participate in the Summer Shape-Up program on Fridays, for opportunities to win prizes.  There will be a Twitter party on July 31, 2014(3 P.M. ET), using the hashtag #BalanceShapeUp.

I took my daughter with me to Walmart, and spent the gift card I received.  I was surprised with how much I was able to buy for $65.  I kept a running tab in my head of the total cost of the items I put in my cart, and thought I was really close to $75 when I headed for the register.  I ended up with a total of just under $65.

I found the Balance Bars over in the Health and Beauty area, and then went over to Produce to get a lot of fresh vegetables.  Since I had my daughter with me, I also ended up with a few of her favorite fresh fruits.  I wanted to get more than what I did, but I didn’t think my family could eat more than what I had selected.  You have to be careful when buying fresh fruits and vegetables.  You don’t want to buy more than you can consume before it goes bad.

After getting the fresh fruits and vegetables I wanted, I headed over to the meat section to pick up some chicken, ham, and ground turkey.  My daughter kept asking for yogurt, and I calculated that I still had enough to let her get some.  As we headed towards the yogurt area of the refrigerator aisle, I stopped and grabbed a container of Silk Almond Milk.  We then moved on and my daughter picked out the yogurt she wanted.  I also managed to grab a big box of Cheerios during our time in the grocery aisles.

The Balance Bars didn’t make it until we got home to be opened.  My daughter asked, before we were even in the car, if she could open a box.  I told her that she could, and she had one of the Cookie Dough Balance Bars, which she enjoyed.  I had one of the Peanut Butter Balance Bars after we got home, and had put all the groceries away.  I’ll give more information about what I think of Balance Bars when I post my Giveaway in a few days.  The Giveaway will be for a $10 Walmart gift card and a variety pack of Balance Bars.  In the meantime, check out the Balance Bar Facebook page for tips on how to get into shape this summer.
